Sisters of the Divine Compassion

… a community where hearts connect and lives are transformed…

Welcome to the web site of the
Sisters of the Divine Compassion
f
ounded in New York City in 1886
and primarily located in this metropolitan area.

We are a religious community of vowed members,
lay associates and partners committed
"to proclaim and witness by our lives and service the compassionate Presence of God in our world."

Welcome to Our Three New Associates!

We are blessed to celebrate the commitment of Maria Galarza, Sharon Pecarina, and Mary Stanton as Associates.  These three women became Associates in a Commitment ceremony on May 11.  Helena Guerin, chair of the Associate Coordinating Committee and Ginny Gonzalez, also on the Committee, introduced the women.  Carol Wagner, President of the congregation, officially received the candidates and led the community of Sisters, Associates, Companions, family and friends in blessing our new Associates of the Divine Compassion.

Maria, Sharon and Mary join more than seventy women and men in formal association with the Sisters of the Divine Compassion.  The Associates share in the mission, vision, and ministry of Divine Compassion.

In November 2012, a delegation of women religious and supporters  -- including four members of the Divine Compassion community -- went to El Salvador commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the martyrdom of four U.S. women missionaries assassinated by the Salvadoran military for their advocacy on behalf of refugees and the poor.  SHARE El Salvador arranged the trip to support the Salvadoran people in their continuing struggle for justice and peace by hearing their stories and accompanying them on their journey.  Please view the video to share this journey.
