60 years


Sister Mary Corita Clarke, RDC entered the congregation on August 15, 1951, and made final vows on March 6, 1959.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Good Counsel College in 1955 and a Master’s Degree in Theology from St. John’s University in Jamaica, NY in 1964.  After teaching the elementary grades at St. Lawrence O’Toole School in Brewster, NY and St. John’s School in Mahopac, NY from 1954 to 1958, Sr. Corita spent 20 years teaching religion at Preston High School in the Bronx, NY until 1978. From 1978 to 2006, Sr. Corita was the Director of the Divine Compassion Renewal Center at Good Counsel Campus in White Plains, NY.  During that time, she also served as an instructor in Ministry Training for the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT from 1982 to 1984, as an adjunct faculty in Spiritual Direction for the Archdiocesan Program in Spirituality from 1980 to 2000, instructor of spirituality at Loyola University in Chicago IL from 1977 to 1991 and adjunct professor at Fordham University in 1992.  Since 2008, she has been serving as a Spiritual Director at the RDC Center for Counseling and Human Development in White Plains, NY.

 

Sister Mary Elizabeth Maney, RDC, formerly known as Sister Mary Gerard, entered the congregation on September 8, 1951, making final vows on March 6, 1959.  She holds a 1954 Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Good Counsel College, and a 1973 Master’s Degree in Education Administration from SUNY Albany.  Before joining the congregation, she served in the Coast Guard during World War II and received a Victory Medal and American Campaign Medal.  Sister taught elementary grades at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Elmsford, NY from 1954 to 1955, St. Bernard’s School in White Plains, NY from 1958 to 1963, Sacred Heart School in Hartsdale, NY from 1963 to 1967 and St. Lawrence O’Toole School in Brewster, NY from 1967 to 1969.  Sister served as Registrar at Good Counsel College in White Plains 1955 to 1958 and at Pace University in White Plains during the 1990’s.  Sister Mary Beth currently participates in the Ministry of Prayer and Presence at Good Counsel Convent in White Plains, NY.      

 

Sister Marie Murphy, RDC, formerly known as Sister Mary de Chantal, entered the congregation on August 15, 1951, and made final vows on March 6, 1959.   She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Good Counsel College in 1957 and a Master’s Degree in Math from St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, CT in 1972.  Sister taught elementary school at St. Mary’s School in Katonah, NY from 1954 to 1959, St. Joseph’s in Croton Falls, 1959-1965, and John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers from 1978 to 1982.  From 1982 to 1990 Sister served as the Treasurer of Good Counsel Academy High School. Sister Marie has been serving as Bursar of Kennedy Catholic High School since 1990.   

 

Sister Catherine Yakovleff, RDC, formerly known as Sister Mary Alexis, entered the congregation on August 15, 1951, and made final vows on March 6, 1959.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Good Counsel College in White Plains, NY in 1958.  Sister taught third grade at St. Lawrence O’Toole School in Brewster, NY from 1954 to 1957 and first and fourth grades at St. Frances de Chantal School in the Bronx, NY from 1957 to 1984.  She then worked in the Medical Records Department at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY from 1984 to 1985, then as a secretary at Family Consultation Service from 1985 to 1988.  She worked in Pastoral Care at Siena Counseling Center in the Bronx in 1988.  Currently Sr. Catherine serves in the Ministry of Prayer and Presence at her residence at Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

 

70 years

Sister Mary St. John Delany, RDC, Katherine Delany, entered the congregation on December 8, 1941, and made final vows on August 15, 1948. 

She holds a 1945 Bachelor’s Degree in History from Good Counsel College, a 1964 Master’s Degree in Teaching and Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University and a 1984 Doctorate in Language and Literacy from Fordham University.  Sister was a teacher at St. Bernard’s School White Plains from 1944 to 1964, and Principal at St. Anthony of Padua School in White Plains from 1964 to 1971.  From 1971 to present, Sister has been Professor of Education at College of White Plains and then Pace University. 

 

In addition, since 1971, Sr. St. John has been the Director of the Center for Literacy Enrichment which has evolved into more than tutoring over the years. Sister has worked with many cultures, teaching English to Japanese and Portuguese women who are living in the US.
