Sister Ann Kavanagh


Sister Ann Kavanagh, RDC, formerly known as Sister Thomas Marie, entered the congregation on September 8, 1961, and made final vows on June 29, 1969.

After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Good Counsel College in 1961, Sister went on to earn a Master of Science Degree in Social Studies Secondary Education at the City College of New York and Permanent School Administration Certification at Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus in New York. Sister taught third grade at Good Counsel Elementary Academy in White Plains, and third and fifth grades at St. Francis de Chantal in the Bronx.

In 1972 Sister was appointed as principal at St. Joseph School in Croton Falls, where she served until 1994. She also served as the principal of Christ the King School in Manville, NJ from 1994-2000, and St. Genevieve School, Elizabeth, NJ from 2000-2001. Sister Ann is currently employed in the Archdiocese of Newark, Superintendent of Schools Office as the Director of Personnel and Government Funded Programs.
