Sister Mary Jane Deodati, RDC, formerly known as Sister Magdalene Marie, entered the congregation on September 8, 1961, making final vows on June 29, 1969.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Good Counsel College in 1965, Sister earned a Masters Degree in Science at SUNY Plattsburg and certification as an administrator. Sister served as a teacher at St. Lawrence O’Toole School in Brewster, NY from 1965-1969, as a teacher and assistant principal at St. Frances de Chantal School in the Bronx, NY from 1969 to 1985 and as Principal of Preston High School in the Bronx from 1985 to 1991. She was an elected member of the Sisters of the Divine Compassion Leadership Team from 2000 to 2008 and served as the congregation’s Human Resource Director.
Sister was Residence Manager at Thorpe Family Residence in the Bronx from 1997 to 2000. In 2008 Sr. Mary Jane was appointed as Executive Director of Thorpe Family Residence, Inc., a housing ministry for homeless and formerly homeless families where she currently ministers.
